Looking for some fun and quick ways to dress up your fireplace for the Fourth of July? Here are five great ideas that are easy, but look very sophisticated and elegant for this patriotic holiday. All you need to get started is your favorite fireplace candelabra, some candles, a little bit of ribbon, and some glass beads or rocks.
1. Place red, white, and blue candles on your fireplace candelabra. This one is the easiest and fastest. Have fun shopping for some nice candles that compliment each other. Keep your reds and blues in the same tone so that they don’t clash. Be creative with the candles: try a few blue candles that have stars on them in the upper left of your candelabra and maybe some alternating red and white candles for the rest to resemble the American Flag!
2. Place red and white candles on the candelabra and drape with blue ribbon. This one is very simple as well, but be sure to buy a ribbon that has the wire in it, so that it is easier to drape exactly how you want it. A blue ribbon with silver glitter or sparkles would be a perfect find! A word of caution on this one: it is not recommended that you light the candles with the ribbon in place. Remove the ribbon before lighting for your safety.
3. Place white candles on the candelabra and use blue and red glass beads underneath. For this one you will need the glass beads or rocks. You also have the option of placing the beads directly on your clean firebox floor, or for ease in removal, place the beads on a cookie sheet or shallow pan. If you choose the second option, be sure to cover the edges of your pan with a few extra beads.
4. Place red and blue candles on the candelabra and use white rock underneath. This one is similar to idea #3, but with a twist. If you place a mirror underneath the white sparkling rocks, and then light your candles, you will get a beautiful effect of thousands of tiny bursts of light (kind of like fireworks!). How perfect for the Fourth of July!
5. Place white candles on the fireplace candelabra, each encircled with ribbon. This one takes a little extra time, but the effect can be very elegant. Find a nice wide red ribbon, perhaps made out of tulle or other light material. Wrap a small piece around each white candle. Then take a slightly thinner blue ribbon and wrap it around the candle, positioning it in the center of the red ribbon. Use a hot glue gun to secure the ribbon in the back, or you could make a simple bow around the front of each candle.
Remember, these are just suggestions and hopefully jumping points for your imagination to soar as you create your own unique styles. Also remember that you can use this patriotic display for more than just this July. Keep the materials used to create your patriotic fireplace candelabra and use them on other holidays such as Memorial Day or Labor Day or maybe even President’s Day! Happy Fourth of July and have fun creating your patriotic fireplace candelabra masterpiece!
